FINDING THE RIGHT ROUTINE

Which products are indispensable when it comes to daily skin care?

The secret to a radiant complexion at any age is the right skincare routine – one that leaves your skin perfectly cleansed and nourished. It is very important to make sure the skincare products you use in your daily beauty ritual are properly tailored to your skin’s particular needs and are applied correctly, as this is the only way to ensure you reap all the benefits of the valuable ingredients they contain.

What is the correct order for applying the products in my skincare routine?

The rule of thumb for your daily facial care routine is: start with clearer products with lighter textures (e.g. boosters and serums) then follow with richer, cloudy or milky products (e.g. face creams).

This is the order in which you should apply your skincare products:

1.    A toner neutralises the pH of the skin, provides hydration and primes the skin so it can better absorb the products that follow.

2.    Boosters and serums enhance the effect of the other products and feed the skin with active ingredients.

3.    Eye cream can be applied to the eye area after the booster or the cream.

4.    Day cream or night cream: In the morning, a product with SPF should always be the final step of your beauty routine. In the evening, an overnight face mask or eye mask, for example, leaves the complexion smooth and refreshed the following morning.

By applying your products in the right order, you are ensuring that your skin absorbs the precious ingredients as best it can. Ideally, you should wait a couple of minutes between each step to give your skin time to absorb each product properly.

How often should exfoliating be incorporated into my routine?

To aerate the skin and rid it of dead skin cells, we recommend exfoliating once or twice a week. Whether physical exfoliation (with abrasive particles) or chemical exfoliation (with AHA/BHA) is more suitable for you will depend on your skin’s condition. But remember: while physical and enzyme exfoliants are suitable for use at home, more intense AHA- or BHA-peels, such as those that use fruit acids, are best carried out by a professional beautician at a salon.

What is the difference between the morning and evening skincare routine?

In the morning, you are preparing your skin for the day ahead. If you will be wearing make-up and you want it to last the entire day, Maria Galland’s 2 MASQUE SOUPLE perfectly primes the skin. This deep-cleansing mask reduces puffiness and instantly creates a more even complexion. To protect the skin from harmful environmental factors throughout the day, apply a toner, serum and cream after cleansing. And very importantly: don’t forget UV protection – whatever the weather!

The focus of the evening skincare routine is on cleansing and pampering. Start by thoroughly removing all traces of the day with a cleanser that is right for your skin type, then pamper your skin with regenerating products. Following this step with rich care like an overnight mask or eye mask will leave your skin looking even more radiant the following morning.

How do I get the best anti-ageing effects from my skin care?

It is active ingredients like vitamin C or retinol that turn a product into anti-ageing skin care. These effective actives are present in all Maria Galland products – even our cleansers. They provide the skin with nutrients and stimuli to prompt the renewal of skin cells. Each has its own mode of action and targets a different skin need. Active ingredients that combine the best of nature and science are the true source of beautiful, radiant skin at any age.

With the skincare lines from Maria Galland Paris, you never need to worry about combining the wrong ingredients in your routine: the combination and concentration of all ingredients in our products are carefully determined to produce the best possible results.
