The rule of thumb for your daily facial care routine is: start with clearer products with lighter textures (e.g. boosters and serums) then follow with richer, cloudy or milky products (e.g. face creams).
This is the order in which you should apply your skincare products:
1. A toner neutralises the pH of the skin, provides hydration and primes the skin so it can better absorb the products that follow.
2. Boosters and serums enhance the effect of the other products and feed the skin with active ingredients.
3. Eye cream can be applied to the eye area after the booster or the cream.
4. Day cream or night cream: In the morning, a product with SPF should always be the final step of your beauty routine. In the evening, an overnight face mask or eye mask, for example, leaves the complexion smooth and refreshed the following morning.
By applying your products in the right order, you are ensuring that your skin absorbs the precious ingredients as best it can. Ideally, you should wait a couple of minutes between each step to give your skin time to absorb each product properly.
